Comments
Comments: Microspikes up Polecat, then snowshoes the whole rest of the way. Tempted to put on full crampons for a minute here and there, but snowshoes (MSR Lightning Ascent and MSR Evo -- i.e., with good built-in traction) were enough. This was a two-day trip, Jan 24-25, with overnight at Carter Hut. Some snow and ice that came in Saturday afternoon, just after we finished, could have changed conditions.
