We did the loop up Falling Waters and down Old Bridal Path. Everything below tree line on both trails is well packed snow. We used snowshoes on Falling Waters but it was as much for the televators as anything else. It looked like most people bare booted or used spikes. Once we got to the ridge we switched to spikes and used them the rest of the day. Most of the ridge and upper part of Greenleaf is bare rock but there are some firm snow fields and patches of ice. I'm sure some people would prefer to bare boot that area but you would need to take each step carefully to avoid ice between rocks. The only place with significant ice is on Greenleaf just below the usual snow field but its easy to walk on the rocks to avoid the ice. |
