Comments
Comments: Hard packed snow surface from parking area to junction with Bald Peak Trail. Some rocks and roots exposed in this section. No problem avoiding the rocks/roots with the snowshoes. Some icy spots on mostly flat terrain.
Above Bald Peak Spur up to the ridge had unconsolidated snow. Snowshoes work best in this section.
Kinsman Ridge Trail generally hard packed surface with some icy spots by the ledges on the north approach to North Kinsman. Rock surfaces exposed on South Kinsman summit due to wind.
Bald Peak Spur trail is broken out well. Much of the summit rocks are free of snow.
Good views from all the summits and on the ridge in many spots.
Kinsman Ridge Trail leading toward Kinsman Junction was broken out well. The Kinsman Ridge Trail south on South Kinsman was not broken out. There was no path broken out to the lower ledge viewpoint on North Kinsman.
Met a group of NH hikers who had wished they had brought snowshoes to get better footing on the upper sections on the Mt Kinsman Trail.
