Comments
Comments: 5 of us parked at the cog and went out/back to Jefferson via Jewell & Gulfside. We used snowshoes below tree line and spikes above (approximately). The trail below tree line was broken out but not fully packed.

Above tree line there was a mix of firm snow, ice, bare rocks, and loose unpacked snow. Most of the snow was firm but there were short sections of loose snow where we created a few post holes. Despite this I was happy with my decision to use one of my slightly older pairs of Hillsounds for the out & back above tree line because of all the rocks. We carried full crampons but never considered using them. One of us used snow shoes all the way to Jefferson even though there was a lot of walking on rocks and that might have contributed to them breaking on the way back. At the top of Jewell where it turns right to meet Gulfside we followed the broken out path that went straight up. It looked like no one had been on the true trail above that although we did run into someone doing a Presi traverse so Gulfside is probably broken out all the way to Washington.
