It was nice to have some fresh snow after last weeks hike in slush, mud, and ice. There are a few rocks still sticking out here and there but they are mostly covered. There are a few icy spots on the ledges. We used snowshoes all day. We some others in spikes. The trail is not hard packed so snowshoes seemed the best choice.
Very cold so we didn't linger at the summit. Bluebird skies with great view and snow covered trees. Yes it is back to winter.
As a side note we did check out Stony brook trail and went in about a half mile in the morning. It looked like no one had been up in awhile so we headed back to the Carter Moriah trail. |
