Great snowshoe track up Pine Bend Brook to North Tripyramid. Previous tracks had drifted over from there, and I broke trail to South Tripyramid (plus the short segments to the top of North Slide and South Slide for panoramic views). Good traction even on the steep sections, with minimal ice. Mountaineering snowshoes are definitely the footwear of choice, except for the moderately sketchy section from South Tripyramid down to the top of the South Slide, where no choice of footwear seems ideal with the current conditions. Encountered about 15 hikers on my way out, all wearing snowshoes. Good luck to the two who were going to the Sleepers, Whiteface, and Passaconaway! |
