 | Comments: |
We started on the Brown Ash Swamp Bike trail which leaves the Welch Dickey trail. The bike trail was well packed from snowshoe traffic. We took the trail up to where it gets very close to the drainage and then crossed and began bushwhacking up the northeast spur. We worked around some steep pitches, soon reaching the northeast ridge. We had to wined around to the north to find a way up around the cliffs. We noted that there are many pitches steeper than what the 40-foot contours suggest. We found a good line from the north to the recognized summit. Snow off trail ranged from 12in of powder in the steep open sections to only about 6 in over a base in the upper conifer forest. |
