from the parking we headed direct at mousley making good headway on an old woods road that ran up the ridge. when this turned off bearing we continued up in open hardwoods then fairly well spaced conifers to the summit area. snow depth fairly minimal, but enough for snowshoes. we found a register a bit northwest of the actual summit and relocated it to the highpoint.
from there we headed to stonehouse with decent woods to the saddle. messier, but still good going up to the summit of stonehouse which has a sign and some sort of trail from points unknown (to me anyway).
from there bill headed down direct to pursue other summits and myself and zporter continued to bundy. a bit steep coming off on a direct line towards the saddle, but it got better pretty quickly then was wide open up to the recognized highpoint of bundy. easy going off the summit towards the outlet of mason pond where we hit what looked to be a snomo trail. we probably should have turned south, but instead continued out across an open field which required negotiating a couple fences/gates before reaching mousley brook road a couple minutes from the parking. |
