Overnight trip to Waumbek. Camped down low amongst some fine hardwoods. After last weekend's melt down the trail is quite icy down low. The hardwoods section has significant ice flows. Upon entering softwoods along side hill section there is still some frozen granular with ice interspersed. Between Starr King and Waumbek there are numerous shallow postoles frozen in place. Snow depths are quite deep along the ridge and still soft off monorail. Ongoing snow shower activity this week will help fill in postholes. I suggest bringing snowshoes to help reestablish a nice treadway. |
