Comments
Comments: Started off early, just after 8am - rain and wet snow from storms the day before froze overnight, providing a crusty and icy ascent that was great for crampons and made the going easy. Started off barebooting and after a few minutes realized crampons would provide better traction for more efficient steps. May be able to get away with microspikes if people prefer those. On the way up, the trail under the crust and ice was VERY well packed and firm - no need for snow shoes at all.

Spent a fair amount of time on the summit eating lunch - pretty windy and cold, but the sun felt great.

On the way down, the warm afternoon sun began to soften up the crust - post holed about 6 times on the descent. Saw a group of 2 barbooters coming up on the late side, close to 2pm, and they ran into problems with post holing I'm sure.

Just wait - soon we will see written accounts from the saintlike snowshoers as they stroke their ego for amazingly "fixing" the trail that the evil barebooters messed up.
