Very well-packed trail with no need for snowshoes until the Hancock Loop Trail. There the snow becomes more soft and powdery so you may want snowshoes. About half the people I saw were bare booting and half were in snowshoes. The snow was very soft and melty on this (relatively) hot day and I had some trouble keeping footing on the steep sections ascending South Hancock.
I started at 7:30 and finished at 12:15 so I'm guessing the snow will be even softer/meltier by tomorrow. |
