| Comments: |
Warm temps mean wet heavy sticky snow for the 1st 3-3 1/2 miles....tough going. Lots of exposed rocks mashed potato snow. Conditions much better above 3200-3400 ft. Well packed monorail the rest of the way. Garfield Ridge & Frost are perfect! Clouds rolled in with snow, no wind, no views. Had the hut to myself....quiet, so peaceful. Maybe 2 inches of heavy wet snow down low made the trip down a little easier. Only saw 4 others all day. Snowshoes needed to keep packing down trail. More snow & freeze will help conditions below. |
