Rehabbing the formerly broken fibula never felt so good despite late start/increasing clouds and some wind up top. A dozen cars in the lot at 1 pm. We were the only party in snowshoes and several thanked us for smoothing the path behind them (grrrr - I replayed the classic Hitler YouTube about postholing as I tramped). Although most of the trail was packed and most of the ledges didn't require snowshoes I'm still glad we did them with the at least 8-inch recent accumulation.
We were probably the slowest group on the trail which gave me pause to contemplate speed, age, the path back to former strength, and the purity that comes with fresh, white, quiet pursuits. |
