| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Zealand Road being closed for the winter meant having to park a little ways down 302, then walk to Zealand Road, and then walk to the trailhead. It added maybe two miles to the hike each way. |
|
| Surface Conditions: |
Snow - Unpacked Powder |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes |
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
Not all water crossings had snow bridges yet, but they were all pretty easily hoppable even with snowshoes. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Trail was easy to follow and the one blowdown was easily stepped over. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Saw two dogs who looked like they were doing really well, and I didn't notice anything that created a dog hazard. |
|
| Bugs: |
None. Yay for winter! |
|
| Lost and Found: |
None. |

| Comments: |
This hike was significantly tougher than I remember it being when I last hiked it a few years ago. The road walk turned the hike from an easy up and down into a longer slog, and the recent snow made for tough going. Thankfully there were people in front of us who had already broken out the trail. However, it was snowy and windy all day, so that also made things difficult. Overall, glad to check another one off the Winter4K list. |
