Comments
Comments: Did a loop up Avalon and out and back to Willey. On my way up Avalon Tr pretty sure I was only 2nd one up since the snow. Once I got the ridge much more traffic to Field but looked like only one went past to Willey. They where wearing snowshoes so trail was in good shape but not Consolidated yet. At Willey no one has come up from Ethan Pond direction yet so it’s unbroken. On my way back it looked like somebody followed me up Avalon wearing full crampons-very impressive but the wrong choice today. I cleaned up some of the postholing but there’s still some treats to be found. They didn’t go any further than the intersection at the top of Avalon so the ridge is in good shape. Lower Avalon is well packed, a group of about 8 headed up around 4pm wearing only spikes and weren’t having any negative impact. There’s a few bony spots hiding so be aware-snow is not super deep yet.

This hike needs snowshoes above the Junction of AZ heading up Avalon and on the ridge as drifts are in play.
