redlining trip to finish up the trails on/around chocorua. barefooted from the car to just before the junction with Weetamoo. kept them on to the junction with Liberty. packed powder higher up, but no need for snow shoes. Kept spikes on while going across Weetamoo, which I felt was icier than Hammond. Got to the bridge and old logging road/snowmo trail, when I decided that I should head back to the car. Didn't feel like retracing my steps, so I walked down the old road a bit and then took a more southerly bearing through open woods back to the car. visited Bragdon Ledge, not much to see. Lots of old bear tracks through the beech forest, saw where they dug thru leaves for nuts. walked thru an open thorny area that had an old picnic table in it. sorta felt like it was the property of an old homestead. there was an trail-ish opening i was tempted to explore, but not going in my direction. Pretty nice day, mild temps. Only saw two trail runners & dog coming down Hammond as I was going up. Looked like the summit of Chocorua was a busy place. |
