I wanted to get a quick day on the trail in today and figured no snowshoes would be needed on this heavily traveled route and I was correct. Hard packed ice and snow made for fast conditions with my sharp hill sounds. I saw one wearing full crampons and they weren’t overkill on the top mile. Definitely need traction on this route. On my way back down I saw at least 8 people who said they were continuing over to Flume I would assume the trail conditions were similar. Cold and windy at the summit but clouds started to break a gave me a few peaks into the Pemi. Full blue sky before I got back to the parking lot of course. |
