There are some areas of crusty ice down low, spikes fine. At the area where the steeps really start, about 2 miles in it was challenging but doable and lasts about .4/.5 miles. Rest was excellent, packed and I moved pretty quick. . Went up in spikes, down in my hillsounds. If I had crampons I would have worn them but was able to tree hug and butt scoot down the steeps. I did bypass of bypass, which hadn’t seen much use so others were comfortable with regular bypass. Gorgeous day, glad I didn’t talk myself out of going today because of worry about ice. No snow shoes needed til next storm. |
