Great day to be out with no winds to speak of until the summit. Garfield Trail is pleasant and moderate the entire way: barebooted for most of it but put on Hillsounds for the last steep bit to the summit at the intersection with Garfield Ridge Tr/the AT. Weren’t totally necessary but I appreciated having the extra traction on the way down. Plenty of areas where there was ice hidden by a bit of snow, so light traction makes for a quicker descent. Snowshoes weren’t necessary at any point so they went for a ride. Was originally planning on heading over to Galehead as well but Garfield Ridge in between wasn’t broken out and with the very early sunset I just went back the way I came (snowshoes definitely necessary for that part of the trail)
