Crawford Path was packed down nicely to Pierce and microspikes were sufficent. Pierce to Eisenhower is broken out but much softer. Still Microspikes were sufficient to get up Eisenhower and down to Edmands Path. The wind was pretty pushy today (40-50 mph forecast) but warm temperatures helped neutralize frostbite concerns. We carried full headgear but didn't need it. Lots of snow, as expected on the Edmands Path descent. One person had snowshoed up so it wasn't a complete break. Most of use wore snowshoes for the decent to Mt Clinton Road as there is a lot of snow on the north side of Ike, but diminishing as you drop elevation. Towards the bottom, we just barebooted it. Sunny and otherwise quite pleasant above treeline. Great day. |
