A nice loop up Weetamoo, Hammond, Liberty, and down Piper. One water crossing on Weetamoo that required some care, and we put on microspikes right around then. A few inches of powder down low, but not enough to warrant snowshoes. It was a pretty steady gradual climb until Liberty Cabin. From the cabin to the summit there were a few steeper pitches, and it would have been nice to have full traction. A few deeper drifts in this stretch, but nothing prolonged for more than a few steps. Fairly icy at the summit, but microspikes were sufficient. There was still a lot of bare rock on top. A quick descent down Piper Trail. |
