Comments
Comments: Amazing day in the sun, even if the sun was short-lived. We wore spikes past the crossings and past the half-frozen/half-slushy muddy sections until the trail became steep, then switched to snowshoes to conserve energy. We decided to skip Galehead (after a brief stop at the hut) and headed straight to the twins to try to beat the winds that were supposed to pick up in the afternoon. It was a good choice. Kept shoes on to hit both twins and back down, with some glissading to be had :) We had a nice break for more food and water at the hut and then headed out to Galehead. At the Galehead summit it was shoes off/spikes on all the way back to the parking lot. Sang some christmas carols to help us through the last few miles (the 12 days of Christmas surely took a mile) - I'm sure we scared some wildlife. Good times with great company.
