One seemingly new blowdown on Carter Moriah just north of Stony Brook Trail. Pretty easy to navigate around. |

 | Comments: |
Stony Brook Trail looked lightly trafficked and had a lot of powdery snow. Snowshoes definitely recommended. Once I got to the ridge and headed toward Moriah the footsteps disappeared after a few hundred feet and I had to break trail the rest of the way to the summit. Luckily the trail was easy to follow even without tracks.
I originally intended to also head south on Carter Moriah as far as the South Carter but I would have had to break trail all the way there. I realized I didn't have time for 9 miles of that on the shortest day of the year. The Carter Moriah Trail was also not broken out heading down toward Bangor Road/Gorham. |
