 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
The trail head for Hubbard Brook Trail is not plowed from Rt 118. It had ~6 inches of powder. I parked very close to Rt 118 as I was not certain my car would make it out if I went further in. |

ThreePondsTrail-SnowmobileTrail-MtKineoTrail-HubbardBkTrail
The entire trail had 4-5 inches of loose snow. Did not see anyone else the entire way. The loose snow made it a little slower than usual. Intended to make a loop using Donkey Hill Cutoff, but took the snowmobile trail and bypassed that part and joined Mt Kineo Trail a mile north of Donkey Hill Cutoff. Carried snowshoes but did not use them at all. Barebooted most of the way except when using microspikes for the climb up to the shoulder of Mt Kineo. Saw a lot of animal tracks (bear, moose, deer, and canine) all day. Watch out for the breakable crust under the snow with water/loose mud underneath (I was grateful for the gaiters and waterproof boots). |
