Great hike on a sunny and mild day (~ 30 degrees). Trail is packed powder, no need for snowshoes, crampons come in handy for some ice patches hidden under the snow but overall not icy. We did the loop clockwise (north to south) and had fun bum sliding most of the descent from south Hancock (optional - as long as you have crampons if you choose to walk down!). Met several other hikers along the way. Took us 6 hours with several water breaks/layering and de-layering/lunch/photos. Trails well traveled and in good shape! |
