Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Fishin' Jimmy Trail was not dog-friendly. The steep icy sections would be very difficult for our four-legged friends and would require considerable assistance from owners to both ascend and descend safely. Brodie stayed at home for this trip.

Comments
Comments: Trails are very icy right now with only a few inches of dry snow covering. Light traction will get you to Lonesome Lake Hut OK, but not recommended above that point. I switched to full crampons at that point; others were wearing Hillsounds. One hiker in snowshoes made it to Kinsman Junction, but I would recommend against snowshoes right now. Descending steep ice in snowshoes is hazardous IMHO. My snowshoes stayed in the car. Drifts are minimal and what snow there is has been booted in nicely.
Weather was high overcast, allowing good views of the surrounding peaks. Moderate temperatures and winds of all of 5 mph at the summits made for a great last day of Fall hike.
