Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: In the col between North & South peak, we were unable to cross the brook draining Mollidgewock Pond, necessitating a longer road walk than planned. It was too cold today to risk crossing, breaking through thin ice and getting wet. In another couple of weeks, there should be more solid ice bridges.

Comments
Comments: Today was successful, but turned out to be a bit longer than planned as we couldn't cross the brook mentioned about.

We walked up the logging road (4-6" of fluffy snow on an icy/firm base). Went up the west face of North peak; woods were not bad; canister on top. Descended cautiously (icy / slippery snow) off the steep south face. Crossed a major snomo road at the 1600' contour. Descended further to the brook hoping to go up the north face of South peak, but despite wasting some energy and time, we could not find a safe crossing today.

Ascended back up to the snomo road, which went easterly back to the main logging road. Followed the logging road as it circled south and then west back towards South peak. We began to bushwhack aiming for the south ridge of the peak as the woods didn't look too bad. Once we gained the ridge, it was an easy bushwhack, following old skid path openings and such, to the canister.

Returned out the same way, via a short descent / bushwhack... then following logging roads for the several mile walk back to the car.

Great company today with JEM3 and Damon.
