Comments
Comments: microspikes were fine until the gem pool. On the steeps, switched to crampons which worked much better. Trail was well packed with almost no postholing. At the hut and going up Monroe the wind was brutal. Just standing up was a chore. Going up the summit of Monroe, looking back to the hut i saw 3 hikers get to the hut and then start out for Washington. 10 min. later they were heading back down. The average wind speed on Washington was 66 mph so i think they made the smart choice. They opted to do Monroe instead. A blue bird day and great to be in the mts.
