Finishing up the misc trails mentioned in the WMG by Velvet Rocks. 3rd hike of the day, a 1.6 loop with 200' of elevation gain. Up the Ledyard Link to the AT by the Velvet Rocks Shelter. There is a Ledyard Spring Spur trail that connects the Ledyard Link to the East Wheelock Trail. This is the water source for the shelter. Trail takes a right and then connects to the East Wheelock Trail passing the Ledyard Spring Spur and down to the roadway, then a road walk along the shoulder of East Wheelock Road back to the car. Stopped at Lou's for great lunch and piece of homemade pie. One of the best reasons to hike in Hanover is Lou's, don't miss it! |
