Comments
Comments: Well it was a later start that we hoped for but I woke up late and made that happen. We were going to try for asquam but figured why not go up the nice highway instead. We saw the 2 sets of footprints ahead of us and we put on our spikes at the trail. We made some decent time and had left our snowshoes in the car as we heard what the trail was like. A hard pack trail for sure. So much snowmelt happened since the last time I was there a few weeks back. Right before treeline we saw the 2 who owned the footprints and said hi. They said it was very windy up ahead but it didn’t sound too bad. We layered up and went on. We noticed they didn’t make it past thr next cairn which we were hoping to not break the news to them that they did not summit. We were in a cloudy with some wind and some spitting snow. We got to the top and still crazy small
Amount of snow up there. It wasn’t too bad and we both had been in worse wind before. We headed backdown and didn’t see the guys til almost an hour down. They had been smart and didn’t feel comfortable and turned around. So we said bye and headed down past them. Made it out to the road and found the thin layer of fresh snow made the road a sheet of ice! We made it out alive though and was a surprising short day!
