With all the recent rain decided to hike the Wildcats via the ski trails to avoid any water crossings or wet trails. We paid the $10 for the Uphill pass to use the ski trails. Conditions were perfect today, packed powder and a bit of ice and Hillsounds worked great for the entire hike. Microspikes probably wouldn't have been enough and Crampons would have been useful in a few spots but it was too intermittent. The ridge had a few inches of fresh powder but no need for snowshoes today (that will change quickly l'm sure). Saw some fresh bear tracks and coyote tracks up on the ridge and one other hiker. |
