About the first half of the trail was completely soaked with either standing or running water and just patches of snow/ice. The warm weather the night before really made a mess of the bottom of the mountain. It can be tricky to navigate because it is right in between needing spikes for patches of ice and just plowing through the wet mud and leaves without any traction. Upper half turned into a more typical winter hike needing microspikes but with loose snow where it was easy to post hole.
It was a windy but day but we only really felt it after breaking tree line in the last 3/4 of a mile or so to the summit. |
