| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
parking is plowed but it is one sheet of ice. Just take it slow and easy |
|
| Surface Conditions: |
Snow/Ice - Monorail (Stable) |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
Light Traction |
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
none |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
With the low snow pack and drifted snow it is often confusing where the trail makes turns as there are many corridors that look inviting. By placing some of the bamboo poles, the ski patrol uses, where the trail makes turns, it would help. IMHO |

| Dog-Related Notes: |
Lucy had no problems with the hard frozen snow |

| Comments: |
Trail was well packed out and easy to follow except for the short section of boulders and low scrub before entering the Rim Trail.
I expected more icy sections but it really was no issue. Where there are icy spots in the "slot canyon" and in the glades they were no problems when being cautious. I wore Hillsounds and they worked well. One other hiker wore just microspikes and he had no trouble. One breaks through the thin crust when stepping off the trail. A beautiful sunny day up there. |
