Comments
Comments: Zealand Road was dry. Hale Brook trail was a bit soft on the lower half and with warmer weather in the forecast snowshoes are the way to go. I carried mine on the pack and was able to bareboot without postholing. Some of the postholes showed me where not to tread. As was the case on Mt. Jackson this morning, past the first switchback the trail/monorail had a icecrust and I put on my microspikes to the summit and took them off when I approached the snowbridged brook crossing before the long traverse on the steep sidehill. Summit was in the clouds and the wind started to knock off the icing from the trees on my way down. The trail looked like someone had scattered broken crystal.
