Comments
Comments: Hiked Mt Lincoln the longer way via Liberty Spring Trail. Lower portions of trail were an annoying mixture of ice/hardpacked snow and bare spots; didn't put on spikes until just after the Flume Slide Trail Junction. Didn't break on the snowshoes at all on Liberty Springs Trail, as it is broken in well. People were summitting Lincoln with just spikes no problem, though I suspect that will change after Wednesday night's new snow. Franconia Ridge Trail from junction with Lincoln Spring to the junction with the Falling Water Trail was not broken out, and snowshoes were definitely the best option. Final stretch to the summit was reasonably broken out, with numerous spots with both ice and bare rock. I felt fine not having crampons or an axe on this route, though they could well be necessary for the Falling Water Trail.
