Comments
Comments: Our group of four wore spikes from the parking lot. We wanted to do the loop clockwise (ascend Lambert Ridge, trailhead near the road) but weren't paying attention and started up the Ranger trail (trailhead toward back of lot). We were up about 1/4 mile before we realized our mistake and bushwhacked back to Lambert Ridge. Glad we had spikes but saw others that did the trail without them. Several icy sections where spikes made the footing more secure. Great views from the tower. Bear tracks around the summit cabin. Ranger trail more wet and less trafficked. Lots of wildlife tracks on Ranger trail (bear, moose, turkey, raccoons). Saw 5 other people. Entire trip took us 7 hours.
