Parked just off 116, lot not plowed and didn't want to chance it even with 4WD. |
|
| Surface Conditions: |
Snow - Wet/Sticky, Snow/Ice - Monorail (Stable), Snow/Ice - Postholes, Snow - Spring Snow |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes, Light Traction |
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
Few smaller streams down low now open but all crossings easy. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Few step-overs and walk-arounds on Mt. Kinsman Trail but all easy to get around. Trail signs at MKT/KRT junction COMPLETELY buried. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Hannah had a great day - she's pretty agile and could avoid just about all the postholes, though this may change in the next few weeks. First hike in months without a cold weather coat! |
|
| Bugs: |
Saw a few bugs near the trailhead looking very confused. |

| Comments: |
Fantastic day out - more sun that forecasted, warm temps, little wind on the summits and great views. Hung out for almost 20 minutes on the summit of South Kinsman taking it all in. Saw two people between North and South, other than that we had the trails to ourselves.
