Comments
Comments: Would definitely recommend bringing spikes. Used them more on the way up, both on the brook crossing and ledges closer to the summit. Much of the ice had melted on my descent (started from osceola at about 2pm, got down to trailhead @ 4pm). I think it would have been dangerous but doable (esp if you went off trail) w/o spikes, but 1) leave no trace, and 2) why put yourself and others at risk?? Trail was very wet/muddy further down on descent, due to melting ice. No spikes needed on chimney, only some minor ice when I was there around 1230/1pm.

Thanks to the awesome CT group who let me tag along on the way to East! ; )
