Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parked my car on the side of Orange Rd immediately after turning in from Sculptured Rocks Rd. No obvious trailhead parking, but area is very remote and quiet, and I certainly wasn't in anyone's way.

Comments
Comments: Pleasant and interesting hike up the logging road for the first 3.7 miles. Odd to see an old cast iron stove decorated with flowering plants perched on the side of the trail about a mile in. Tons of deer prints in the loose sand and mud.

Once I got off the logging road and into the woods near the junction with Elwell Trail, I hit many muddy spots with water pooling up here and there on the trail. All were easily bypassed.

Ledges were a bit slick in spots on some of the scrambles up Firescrew and Cardigan.

This was my first time hiking the entire length of the Mowglis Trail...and my first visit to Crag Shelter.

Very enjoyable area in which to hike.....proof that you don't have to travel way up north to experience wild NH!
