Comments
Comments: I hiked to Merravista Ledges and encountered a large school group. I then traveled the Canaan Mountain trail blazed in red. Canaan Mountain Trail is blazed in red and overgrown in many places. Trail is route - but not really a trail. By that I mean terrain is super rocky over much of the route and very little evidence of tread way. New fallen leaves and trail zigs and zags all over the place made trail very difficult to follow. I had to stop constantly to search for the red blazes and took much extra time to navigate. Junction with Mount Flagg Trail was difficult to figure out and taking much extra time. I had intended to go to Mount Shaw, but spent too much time navigating Canaan Mt Trail so I spent time brushing the Mount Flagg Trail above the lean-to. Mount Flagg is definitely a nice view ledges and worth visiting. Merravista Ledges are nice, but overall I can't recommend Canaan Mt trail.
