Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: One bad one right before Weatamoo terminates back at Piper. I travelled downstream to find a better crossing spot and still had to dunk one boot.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Lots of leaf cover made Weatamoo tricky to follow on the descent. Several blowdowns
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: One happy lab at the top! He needed a little encouragement over the final scrambles but did awesome.

Comments
Comments: Planned on an earlier start but it started raining hard right as I pulled off 16 to the trailhead. Waited until 6 to start. The trail was quite wet with several mud holes hiding under the leaves. The ledges ascending middle sister required extra caution due to the water.
Liberty from the summit to the cabin was straight treacherous. All the ledges were soaked and the steeper ones were difficult to get down without a wet arse.

Views were incredible- crystal clear air, plenty of autumn colors, sunrise from Carter ledge...

I only stood on the true summit for a minute to grab pictures before ducking out of the wind. There’s a rock formation I dubbed “The Recliner” years ago- perfect seat in the rock with back & footrest.
I passed one group of 3 when I started and then met them again along with one other solo hiker and his pup right before the summit. Great folks, very friendly. (And good to know I wasn’t the only fool stumbling around in the dark with a headlamp that early).
