It was great hiking up Polecat with today's great view of the Presis in their fresh snow covering. No one, including ski patrol guys, made it an issue. Having read Eric's old entry on his website, about the shortcut from Polecat to the trail below Wildcat D, I was glad to take advantage of it as I only needed Widcat A, since I was turned back last year in April. Wildcat Ridge trail has a nice and easy to follow corridor even when one cannot find blazes or has a packed trail. It was tiring today to change from shaded to sun drenched portion of the trail, with powder and wet snow (mashed potatoes). The snowshoes balled up easily and made them quite heavy. There was not sign anyone had come up from Carter Notch. |
