This was a great hike. We arrived just after it stopped raining, as the sun came up and it was a beautiful day. Lots of standing water on the trail and many exposed roots, but we expected that and the first part of the hike is relatively flat and easy. At the loop trail, we went up the North peak first. I would recommend that because you go down first and then cross a beautiful stream , and then the climb is steep but very straightforward without a lot of loose rock. We came down the South side and that had a lot of loose rock, not as fun for climbing up from my point of view, but that being said, plenty of people were coming up the South side. The hike between peaks is beautiful and had very light snow underfoot. We did bring our microspikes, but no use for them at all today. Nice views at the viewpoints which are marked. |
