Tuckerman Ravine, Nelson Crag, Huntington’s to Alpine Garden, Lion Head, Tuckerman
Perfect day above tree line. Started up at 7A, sumitted around 10A, hung around for a few to enjoy the solitude (just myself and a single state parks employee). Tuckermans was awesome with the melting snow adding some dramatics to the waterfalls. Decided to add some miles and took the Alpine Garden trail back to lion head. Most snow in Tux was gone/avoidable. Going down Nelson crag, i ran into some decent drifts but none lasted more than 50 feet of trail. I’m sure with the wind and rain, it’s all toast.
Ive seen some very unprepared people out and about on that summit. Today took the cake with the gentleman with a suit jacket on and slacks. No back pack, no water, no nothing. Took the time to pass on some education and he was actually appreciative about it. Hopefully he made the smart choice to turn back |
