Took the Tecumseh trail and then the Sosman and then back on Tecumseh on the way down. This is an extremely easy trail to access and very easy to follow. A 3 hour roundtrip at a brisk pace. We stopped for about 30 minutes at the summit for lunch, and I am not including that in our time. Plenty of people on the trail, but not packed. Lots of foliage toward the bottom and less so on the ascent. A fair amount of mud, but relatively easy to jump over or side step. The trail was not extremely steep, but definitely a workout on the "staircase" if you don't take a break.
The view on the top was fabulous. Could see snow capped Presidentials as well as Osceolas and Tripyramids. Only some crunchy snow/ice as we went on the Sosman trail, but it was easy with just hiking boots. In fact, we chose Tecumseh after hiking Garfield the day before and ending up on top in a winterwonderland, with a lot of ice. Though that was beautiful and worth it, today we wanted to avoid the ice, and Tecumseh was a good choice. |
