Arrived in the lot at 6:45am to cool temperatures in the 30s! There was fog hovering on the mountain tops, but the day promised to be sunny. Took the Webster-Jackson trail to Jackson summit. Trails were wet and icey in spots but nothing major. Unfortunately, the fog had not cleared by the time we reached the summit. No spectacular views for us, but an enjoyable hike none the less. Summit was chilly with a coating of frost and ice! Only major challenge of the hike is the ledge scramble at the end. It doesn't last long and pretty soon you're at the top but may be difficult for furry companions. Met very few people on the ascent, but met loads of people on the way down. Many chose to start the hike a little later for the promised sun in the late morning/afternoon. |
