The trail was well packed all the way to the summit. It was a bit crusty lower down, but softened up nicely higher up. Snow was a mix of hard-pack and drifts on the summit. There were patches of ice visible, but none on trail. We wore snowshoes the entire hike, but there were a good number of people bare-booting, and a couple of people wearing Micro-Spikes.
Very windy above treeline. We'd thought about adding on Eisenhower to the hike, depending on how we felt at the summit of Pierce, but the winds made the prospect of the exposed hike unpleasant, so we hiked back down after summiting Pierce. |
