 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
There’s parking across from the trailhead. This is the only time I’ve seen several cars there. It was busy enough that you wanted to pull in or back up vertically and not horizontally and take up a lot of room. Probably 8-10 cars when I got there around 1pm. Last car there around 4:15pm. |

 | Water Crossing Notes: |
The three crossings of Whitin Brook were all low but you still may get your feet a wee bit wet if you’re not wearing water proof boots as they aren’t many rocks to rock hop on. I would probably avoid these crossings in high water. |

 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
I don’t recall any blowdowns. Big Rock Cave was blazed in blue and I think Whitin Brook was blazed in yellow. Not sure about Cabin Trail. The blaze wasn’t very frequent on Whitin Brook. About your average on Big Rock Trail. In any case, I didn’t find any of them hard to follow. Whitin Brook is a bit overgrown in places so it may trouble less experienced hikers. |

 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Saw two that seemed to be doing fine. One was a farm dog and barked at me but the young owners had it on a leash and even held its head to prevent it from barking much as I approached; thank you! The other was unleashed and barking but the owners held it as I passed by. I’d e careful with dogs on the crossings of Whitin Brook when the water isn’t low. |

 | Bugs: |
Nothing biting but I think I saw a few stinging insects around. |
|
 | Lost and Found: |
A small assortment of items (a hat, water ball, and old looking set of keys) at the trailhead.
