Comments
Comments: Cowen Hill Road (ATV); Hard Scrabble (ATV); bushwhack.

Rt. 3 to Day Road, about 4.1 miles. Bear left at fork, staying along the east bank of Perry Stream. At 4.1 miles, park at an obvious fisherman's parking spot; Farr Road on the opposite side of the stream will appear quite close.

Ford stream in waterproof boots, or easy ford as the rocks are slippery.

Short 80 yard bushwhack W'ly to dirt ATV road. Travel 100 yards north on ATV road. Left turn onto overgrown and wet in places old logging road; bushwhack this NW for 1/3 mile. Emerge on Cowen Hill Road (ATV). Follow about 1.0 mile to HOL. Along the way, note the "Hardscrabble" ATV road on your left, as this is where we came out.

At HOL, now only 0.3 miles from Cowen Hill, easy BW to summit. Returned same path back to HOL. Proceeded N'ly down a driveway to a Cabin, continued on a trail past the outbuilding, eventually BW'ing to Cowen Hill North peak.

On Google satellite, I noticed a road that reached up to the sub-bump just south of the peak. We BW'd 0.4 mile to the bump, and picked up the top of Hardscrabble ATV road. Turned Right... and the road took us downhill back to the bottom of Cowen Hill Road. This proved to be a great way to avoid a long bushwhack off the peak.

Returned to the car similarly as to how we began the hike.

5&6 of 12 over a 3-day whack fest with Bill C. and Schorman.
