Comments: Bushwhack from Hunt Road, Plymouth Mt. Trail, bushwhack ending at Pike Hill Road

1976 AMC Guide, the Centennial edition, gold hard cover that has pointed me the way through the Whites, my first guide.... Becca has also embraced lets find these abandoned, aka Closed Trails, yes people they close trails so stay ever vigilant. Volunteer, join local clubs and write emails! Today's adventure Plymouth Mountain via alternative bushwhack offered up in the pages of the precious gold tome. We picked our way due north and through hardwoods and a few spruce and lots of ledges. Once we gave up climbing the steep ledges we ended up in a drainage and it was a sweet path ending with making a whack directly east landing us just above the south view ledges of Plymouth Mountain. We visited the south outlook ledges and then headed to the summit of Plymouth and descending via the abandoned but well used Plymouth Mountain Trail until we left the trail to bushwhack and follow the ridge up to the West Peak. On West peak, my third visit now, we discovered the orange canister marking the finish peak of the Foote's last Oct 1, 2017 was missing its bottom screw cap and that the pages in the register prior to November 2018 have been removed. A good handful of people have signed in since. The bushwhack back down to Pike Road was a good straight whack. Back at the car we decided to check out the ponds up past the drive-able portion of the road, nice woods but just lots of high grass, old road is grassy and brushy, saw some nice stone walls.
